America was not founded as a Christian nation. Nowhere in the U.S. Constitution is “God” mentioned, nor is “Allah”, “Jehovah”, “El”, “Jesus”, “Muhammad”, “Abraham” or any other revered ‘holy’ character from the Bible, the Torah, or the Qur’an. We are not a Judeo-Christian nation, we are a secular country where no single faith or belief is to be endorsed by the government, so that all are free to believe as they wish.

Only when none are endorsed are all ‘free’ to follow whatever faith, belief or lack thereof, they so choose to be appropriate. The founding fathers were wise enough to see this, and we should realize their wisdom and great foresight.

On this Independence Day, we need not thank a God or deity for this ‘free’ nation, we should thank the likes of Jefferson, Washington, Adams, Hancock, Franklin, Madison and so many others who risked life and limb to bring forth this democracy. Some of these men were deists, some were Christians, some were of no faith at all, but all wanted to create a great, strong and free nation.

LetsĀ honor the Founding Fathers, Mothers and Families who risked everything.
