Fox news experiment to see how much data Google actually gathers from your phone
Fox News tested how much data your Android smartphone collects for Google when it is disconnected from the web. The result is shocking. Your smartphone gathers plenty of data about your activities, even though it is in Flight mode and lacks SIM cards.
Fox journalists used two identical mobile phones (Samsung) with Google’s operating system Android. The difference was that one phone had the flight mode switch on, ie it was disconnected from the cellular network and the other had flight mode turned off. None of the phones had SIM cards and the WiFi was turned off.
Brett Larson on Fox carried the two phones in his pocket as this walked out from Fox News office. He went into a convenience store and had a coffee. Brett Larson then passed a senator building and then he took a car ride to a hospital, a school and a church where he took some selfies. The trip was a total of 2.3 miles and lasted just over an hour.
